Groovy - The Superb Homeless - Michał Mally
Szczegóły
With "Groovy - The Superb Homeless" our next speaker - Michał Mally will start his series of talks/labs on Groovy. He feels like the language deserves much more love (love, love... is in the air) than it gets in Kraków or in Poland.
Let's check this :)
ABSTRACT
As you may know Groovy 2.4 has been recently released. This is the latest version of this superb language and the last one under umbrella of Pivotal ( http://blog.pivotal.io/pivotal/news-2/groovy-2-4-and-grails-3-0-to-be-last-major-releases-under-pivotal-sponsorship ). Many people believe this divorce might be a great opportunity for Groovy/Grails and the whole ecosystem around. Personally I believe it is a great time to stand up and show your support for the Groovy world. My way to do so is to give this crash course of Groovy to you.
This talk will give you a solid introduction into the nature of Groovy, the language syntax differences and its most important features. I will also try to answer common questions that arises when it comes to interoperability with pure Java. During whole presentation I will be using the latest language syntax (features) and IntelliJ IDEA (for live coding :)). All the concepts will be exemplified by "real-life" code examples. The talk is intended for developers who want to learn solid basics. Groovy talks following this one will cover more advanced topics (of your choice).
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER, MICHAŁ MALLY:
I’m a long-time professional Java evaluator and personally a big fan of Groovy language but in the first place I’m a full-time seeker. These days I am a construction worker at Base laying the foundations for Java microservices in local purely polyglot reality. In my spare time I transubstantiate into a high-speed navigator of my silver Honda motorbike so watch out ;)
CALL FOR LIGHTNING TALKS!
We still got time and beer for two lightning talks (max. 10 min. each). Do you want to share a short groovy/java story? Let us know!
