== Agenda ==
Note: This agenda / schedule is approximate.
18:00: Arrivals
18:15: Opening Address
18:20: Michael Kefeder — Learnings from writing a low power BLE firmware for nrf52 using Rust
Michael will give you an overview of what happens when you're tasked to write a firmware for a custom embedded device that is supposed to run on a single battery-charge for many months. He will explain how this can be done using Rust and discuss which option he chose, followed by a demonstration on how to measure the current used by the MCU and the fun details one discovers doing so.
19:00: Short Break — Grab a Drink!
19:10: David Peherstorfer — Medical Visualization in Rust: From 2D Slices to 3D Multiplanar Reconstruction
Medical Visualization is a topic near and dear to David's heart. He will show how medical images are loaded and transformed to be usable in a Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR) visualization. This talk serves as an introduction to Medical Visualization, showcasing how Rust's ecosystem can deliver the performance to support medical personnel in their day-to-day work. We will hit some performance bottlenecks that we will solve on our way and you'll see the evolution from a slow initial implementation to a performant solution.
19:50: Long Break — Food, Drinks & Socializing 🍕
20:20: Michael Kefeder — Rust's enum, now that's sum type!
Starting with the modest enum, as known from C and C++, Michael will show that this data type in Rust can do the same as in C or C++ — and then some. With the help of some code examples you'll discover the power and pitfalls of the modern programming patterns it allows.
21:00: Closing Address
21:30: Wrapping up; Last Drinks
We're looking forward to seeing you all again! 🦀
