We are pleased to announce our AKUG.PT #7 community event dedicated to the Security Architecture of Apache Kafka Open Source platform 🔐

Event-driven and Streaming platforms are becoming the central nervous system of key business areas. As a consequence, data manipulated are digital assets a company must secure. However, this requires a fairly good understanding of the platform architecture to apply correctly the security mechanisms.

Marcelo Barbosa Pinto will bring his knowledge and concrete experience of the Apache Kafka security architecture. We will answer the main Why, What and How to secure your Apache Kafka cluster. The event will incorporate a presentation, a workshop, and a Q&A session.

📜 TALK: Apache Kafka Security Architecture

The adoption of microservices and cloud-native architectures in large corporations is a reality. Asynchronous communications in modern architectures require the adoption of streaming platforms like Apache Kafka. However, for many companies, it is still challenging to maintain the security of this tool.

In this talk, we will cover the main security aspects involving Kafka and demonstrate live how to make encryption, authentication, and authorization settings with TLS and Kerberos.

Software architect with almost 20 years on the road and extensive experience in the market.
He has specializations in Big Data, Apache Kafka, and Cassandra. He has worked for large companies such as B2W and Santander and currently works at Itaú as a technology specialist.
