Ultra Rare 35mm Theatrical Screening of MICHAEL JACKSON's "THRILLER" Video!!!

Don't panic or get confused, this mini screening is IN ADDITION to our Horrothon horror film all night movie-marathon event at the Aero Theatre.

Michael Jackson's THRILLER music video (1983), directed by John Landis (who also directed many major Hollywood movies in the 1980's & 1990's), was awarded in 1989 the MTV Video Vanguard Award for being “The Greatest Video in the History of the World,” the short film for Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” remains the undisputed champ for its fusion of pure pop and cinematic joy. This short film is the first (and only) music video ever to be inducted by the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry, a select collection of films of "enduring importance to American culture."

Though this very high budget 15-minute length video was actually shot on 35mm, this will be its first-ever big screen, theatrical public showing since 1983 when this short film briefly played at the time of its original release at the (former) National Theater in Westwood for one week only back in December of 1983 when it was interestingly double-billed with Walt Disney's "Fantasia" (Jackson was a huge Disney fan and in order for this video to be considered for Academy Award nomination for best short film, it had to have at least a brief theatrical run--hence the special one week theatrical engagement at just one theater in the entire country). Other than that extremely limited public exposure, it has only been shown on TV and has never again been shown on the big screen--in stereo--as it will be exhibited for this special one-time only showing at the Hammer Theatre.

Note: Jono is ONLY going to attend this brief mini-screening of THRILLER in Westwood then will high tail it to Santa Monica to join the rest of our group at the Aero Theatre for the Horrothon. However, for those who may be interested, following THRILLER will be a screening of John Landis's "American Werewolf In London" feature with much of the of the original cast and crew live in attendance. Jono is not going to sit through "American Werewolf" since our group already attended a screening of this film at the Academy earlier this year and because of our other previously scheduled event.
