TALK #1:
DevOps practices can bring a lot of additional cognitive load! “DevOps Platform” is currently a widely accepted approach to decrease the cognitive load to developers, but still achieve “DevOps” benefits at scale. Having a well established "DevOps Platform'' practice that understands its internal users needs is key, but as soon as mindsets, processes and tools start to be built, new challenges arise: the inflow of new use cases; product changes requiring enablements; or simply our own technical debt. All kinds of work need to be addressed, planned and communicated in transparent ways to the IT organization be it to the newcomer developer or to the CTO.
Bringing alignment on goals, plans and vision is essential for a "DevOps Platform" to thrive in any organization. At OutSystems, in the last 2 years we have been working on building and iterating these platforms and we would like to share our ideas and what we think are the best practices regarding planning and alignment that made a difference in our “DevOps Platform”.
Speaker: André Grossinho, Lead Software Engineer at OutSystems
André is a Software Engineer with a special hate for operational work, technical debt and a disproportional love for the pursuit of value behind every development. His journey has brought him to the DevOps area and is currently leading a team on R&D SDLC area at OutSystems.
TALK #2:
In this presentation, we will explore the journey of building a platform team within our organization. We will discuss the motivation for creating the team, the challenges and growing pains we faced, and the benefits that the team has brought to our business. We will also highlight the different teams that make up the platform team and the specific problems they solve, as well as lessons learned and best practices that can be useful to other organizations. Join us to learn how we built a successful platform team that has helped us to streamline our operations and deliver better services to our customers.
**Speaker: Luís Mendes, Platform Tech Lead at Mercedes-Benz.io**
I'm a Software Engineer with more than 15 years of experience specializing in several technologies that range from Ruby, and Java to Amazon Web Services. Having studied Engineering at Instituto Politécnico de Tomar, my professional path has seen many roles and responsibilities as a Software Engineer, Chief Technology Officer, and Platform Tech Lead.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The talks will be recorded and published in the DevOps Lisbon YouTube channel. By signing up for this event you explicitly agree that your image might appear in the video recordings. Nevertheless, you can always get in touch with the organisation to have it removed.
