Ma Shi Chau Trail 🥾
Detalhes
Hello HnT Crew!
We're taking our hike to Ma Shi Chau for an awesome geological journey back in Time! ☀️
Length: ~4.5 km (Out-and-back)
Difficulty: Easy (Mostly flat coastal trail, but requires careful footing)
Time: 2 - 3 hours (Will vary on everyone's pace and how much we stop to look at rocks!)
Supply: No supply stations along the nature trail; please stock up at Sam Mun Tsai before we head out.
Elevation Gain: Minimal (~40 m total)
Distance Posts: Ma Shi Chau Nature Trail posts C5101 to C5112
⚠️ Important Notice: Punctuality & Waiting Policy
Please make every effort to arrive on time so we can keep the event running smoothly for everyone.
⏱️ 10-Minute Grace Period: Organizers will only wait a maximum of 10 minutes past the scheduled start time. If you are running late and we have not received a response or update from you, we will have to proceed without you.
✅ Reminders:
Check the Tide Table: The tombolo (sandbar) connecting Sam Mun Tsai to Ma Shi Chau is submerged at high tide! We have timed this perfectly, but keeping an eye on the water level is mandatory.
✅ Bring at least 1.5L of water
✅ Wear proper hiking shoes (coastal rocks can be sharp, slippery, and covered in mud/barnacles)
✅ Light snacks
✅ Sun protection (the coastline is highly exposed with very little shade)
✅ Lastly, good vibes!
Additional Notes:
📝 Digital Sign-off: There will be a digital sign-off sheet acknowledging that the organizers are not responsible for any injuries sustained during the hike.
✊ Respect the Site: Ma Shi Chau is a protected Special Area and a UNESCO Global Geopark. Strictly no picking up or taking any rocks, fossils, or shells. Leave only footprints!
🩹 Safety First: First Aid is covered!
Let's head out and explore some of Hong Kong's oldest sedimentary rocks and stunning Tolo Harbour views! See you there!
