Join local K–12 educators at a ScratchEd Meetup to play, learn, and connect around teaching with Scratch.

Scratch is a free online programming tool through which students can creatively explore CS concepts by creating interactive media (like stories, games, animations, and simulations) and sharing those creations with others online. The Scratch Online Community is used by millions of young people all around the world. No coding experience necessary! Bring your MAC, PC, or Chromebook to participate or to learn from others.

We will generate the agenda based on needs and interests. Bring a friend and learn together!

Scratch Day is a global network of events where people gather to celebrate ScratchJr and Scratch. This event will bring together educators to share projects, and learn from each other.

Join us for a hands-on programming session in Scratch where you will program a monster to dance, two animals to tell each other a joke and a simple racing car game. You will also be able to find out more about Barefoot Computing, Scratch Jr and OctoStudio too!

Anyone who is interested in connecting with fellow educators and learning more about using Scratch in educational settings is welcome to participate.

ScratchEd Meetup

Hello all, very excited to be back for Scratch Day this year LIVE & IN-PERSON @Vernier with SPECIAL GUEST Algorithmar\* (or Maren) from the Scratch Team!

Since ScratchEdPDX was a personal initiative from Rick and I, and were currently both on the OCSTA Leadership board - ScratchEdPDX teacher meetups is also now offically a OCSTA event !

ScratchEd Meetups are informal gatherings for educators who work with (or are interested in working with) Scratch!

1. We start with networking over light refreshments, getting to know fellow attendees and sharing what people want to explore during the meetup.

2. Our guest Maren will give a short presentation on some of her favorite Scratch related topics!

3. We then collaboratively decide how to structure our learning and then form small groups based on our different interests. Maybe you want to have a discussion about classroom strategies or get more practice with Scratch—or something else entirely. Feel free to move between groups if the session that you're in isn't working for you!

4. After our sessions we gather as a whole group and group sharing. You might pose a question to discuss with the group, or share something from your classroom. This is a great time to inspire and be inspired!

What should You bring?!
