AWS User Group Berlin Session - April 2026
AWS User Group Berlin Session - April 2026
Dear Community, Another month with two great talks in the agenda. This time we are meeting at our home **NLND Berlin**, with one talk covering AWS AgentCore while the second one about Redshift Data sharing. =================================================== 18:30 - Warming up and networking chat 18:45 - Intro by AWS UG Berlin & NLND 19:00 - 19:40 - **Gamei Chin & Milad Rezaeighale // The Diabetes Sweet Spot: Using AWS AgentCore to Empower Data-driven Lifestyle Decisions** This session is about building production-ready agentic workflows with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore—from running agents securely at scale on a managed Runtime, to exposing and orchestrating tools via AgentCore Gateway (including MCP-based tooling), adding different types of memory for context and personalization, and enforcing security and governance with Identity and Policy for controlled tool access. It ends with a live demo of a practical use case: an agentic app for glucose monitoring, showing the end-to-end workflow and monitoring in action. 19:40 - 20:00 - Networking break with food, snacks and drinks 20:00 - 20:40 - **Jirka Hubacek // Breaking Down Monolithic Redshift Using Data Shares** As data platforms scale, managing competing workloads in Amazon Redshift becomes increasingly challenging. Traditional WLM (Workload Management) often isn’t enough to effectively prioritize traffic — you end up facing a classic “chicken and egg” problem: should ETL pipelines or client-facing queries get priority? With the introduction of Redshift Data Sharing, there’s now a more flexible approach — you can create multiple Redshift instances that consume data from a shared source, isolating workloads without duplicating storage. 20:40 - 20:45 - Closing & Final Remarks =================================================== **Very Important: There is no "waitlist" for our regular sessions.** However, there are limited seats available. If you want to make sure you can attend: Register yourself with your "full name" here at meetup.com Arrive on time - seats are first come, first serve. As soon as there are seats available, you are welcome to join with your registration. In case there are no more seats available, we won't be able to let you join us this time.We thank you very much for your understanding! ================================== Additional Information **This event is wheelchair friendly.** Help us spread the word, and invite your friends & colleagues! If you're attending with wheelchair and need assistance, please mail us: organisers@berlinawsug.de for further details. Would you like to host AWS UG Berlin events at your company? Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈 - Edition 013
Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈 - Edition 013
**Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈** is a new, informal in-person Rust meetup group in Berlin. We are a interactive meetup format interested in mob coding, deep diving and problem solving together. We build toy projects, share experiences, discuss technology and learn new cool stuff. And you are welcome to join! No matter if you are writing Rust production code every day, if you already contribute to Open Source projects or want to start doing so, if you use Rust in hobby projects or if you are just curious what the hype and buzz is all about, you are very welcome! To coordinate and plan activities, please join our **[Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/)**[ Zulip chat](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/)! **Planned programme** Being an informal meetup, we are open to anything between just meet and talk, explore nerd snipes and rabbit holes, mob code together, plan and build fun projects, tinker with electronics, and presentations with Q&A. With the [introduction](https://berline.rs/2026/04/01/berlin-talks.html) of the new [Rust Berlin Talks](https://berline.rs/about#rust-berlin-talks) meetup series, **[Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈](https://berline.rs/about#rust-berlin-on-location)** strengthens its focus on social community experience, the exchange of knowledge, ideas and perspectives, and the joy of spontaneity. This time, we have the following topics lined up: * Tobias has been working on a ***project wizard*** and would like to receive some feedback from the group. * Crop is going to introduce the topic of ***atomics***, then hold a discussion space for answering questions and sharing experiences. * Raf finally would like to introduce ***test-driven development*** with a small mob coding exercise. If someone brings other cool stuff, questions or problems, then let us dedicate the second half of the meetup time to that! Anyone is invited to bring their projects and questions, show something, ask something, or explore a topic together. The best conversations and deepest rabbit holes can emerge out of seemingly nowhere. **Projected upcoming meetups** We schedule regular meetups on Thursday evening every four weeks, using the slot between the Berlin Rust Hack and Learn online meetup (every two weeks), and the Rust Nuremberg online meetup (every four weeks). 16 April 2026 is our thirteenth meeting. Our next projected meetings are going to occur on the following dates: * 14 May 2026 (tentative, public holiday) * 11 Jun 2026 * 9 Jul 2026 * 6 Aug 2026 * 3 Sep 2026 * 1 Oct 2026 **Location** Our meetup location is the new shared office community space of Ferrous Systems, Slint and KDAB in Berlin Mitte, for up to 25 people. We are expecting to use this space as our default location for the time being, with the IN-Berlin e.V. community space in Moabit as backup. Regardless, as our group might eventually outgrow the locations' size limit, we are low-key looking for bigger locations. If you know a fitting location, then please let us know in our Signal group! Another workable way might be to split the meetup into smaller, interest-specific sub-groups instead. As the no-show rate on Meetup.com is rather high, consider showing up even if you are on the waiting list. We can't promise that there is any space left, but usually there is. So give it a shot! **Accessibility** The location has an elevator and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Please note that the bathroom is two floors down from the meetup space. On our quest for a bigger location, we are going to pay special attention to accessibility. **Community** We aim to create a safe place for everyone and adhere to the [Berlin Code of Conduct](https://berlincodeofconduct.org/). Inclusivity is very important to us. If you are curious about Rust, but unsure if you are welcome to join: Yes, yes you are. Please come to the meetup! If you have special needs, please get in contact, we will try to accommodate you as best we can. We are part of [https://berline.rs/](https://berline.rs/) and like to hang out in the **[Rust Berlin on location 🏳️‍🌈](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/)**[ Zulip chat](https://rust-berlin.zulipchat.com/join/gap4pdbz7xsquliiz7tgcyuk/). You are very welcome to join!

HTML5 Master Series (Class 04 of 04) (SPECIAL OFFERING)
HTML5 Master Series (Class 04 of 04) (SPECIAL OFFERING)
**PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT NOTES:** 1. The dates listed for this series are about 95% reliable. We are completing our 2026 schedule as we speak, so minor adjustments are still occurring. 2. Each class in this series has an attendance fee, though this first offering is free on a first-come, first-served basis. 3. Each class, from BOTH a sign-up and fee perspective, is a separate entity. **Introduction:** HTML5 is the foundational technology for modern web development, serving as the standard markup language for structuring and presenting content on the World Wide Web. Developed through a collaboration between the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG), HTML5 provides a robust system of elements (tags) that tell a browser how to display text, images, and multimedia in a clear and meaningful way. It works in concert with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for presentation and JavaScript for interactivity, forming the core technology stack for virtually all websites and many web applications today. One of the significant advancements of HTML5 is the introduction of powerful new features and elements designed to improve functionality and simplify development. Key additions include native multimedia support via the \ and \ tags, allowing developers to embed media without third-party plugins. It also offers new form controls for better user input, such as date and email types, and introduces web storage capabilities to store data offline for enhanced performance. These features streamline the process of building rich, interactive web experiences. A significant focus of HTML5 is enhanced semantics and better structural organization of content. New semantic elements like , , , , and \ provide meaningful structure to documents, which aids in search engine optimization (SEO) and improves accessibility for assistive technologies. These elements define different parts of a webpage (e.g., a header for the top, a nav for navigation links, a footer for the bottom), making the code more readable and understandable for both developers and machines. This emphasis on clear structure helps in creating more logical and maintainable websites. Developing websites in today's competitive environment requires taking advantage of every technique you can to get the maximum exposure possible. Our HTML5 class will not only show you what's new in the HTML specification, but also the best way to develop optimized web pages that get the attention your client and/or company requires. **The breakdown of the four-class series is as follows:** **Class 1: Introduction to Web Structure and Basic HTML5** This class introduces the core concepts of web development, the history of HTML, and the fundamental structure of an HTML5 document. * **Topics**: * **Web Architecture Overview**: How browsers, servers, and web pages interact. * **HTML Fundamentals**: Understanding elements, tags, and attributes. * **Basic Document Structure**: Using !DOCTYPE html, html, head, and body. * **Text Formatting**: Headings (h1 to h6), paragraphs (p), and text-level semantics (e.g., strong, em, br). * **Lists and Links**: Creating ordered (ol) and unordered (ul) lists, and linking between pages using anchor tags (a). * **Activity**: Students create a basic personal webpage containing text, a list of hobbies, and a link to an external website. **Class 2: Semantic HTML5 and Multimedia Integration** Class 2 focuses on modern HTML5 elements that provide meaning (semantics) to content, improving accessibility and search engine optimization. It also covers adding images and multimedia. * **Topics**: * **Semantic Elements**: Understanding and implementing elements like header, footer, nav, section, and article. * **Images**: Adding images using the img tag and attributes like src, alt, width, and height. * **Multimedia**: Embedding audio and video content using the audio and video tags. * **File and Folder Structure**: Best practices for organizing project files and managing file paths. * **Activity**: Students refactor their Class 1 project to use a proper semantic layout and add an image and a link to a video file. **Class 3: Forms and User Input** This session is dedicated to building interactive HTML5 forms, which are essential for capturing user data and input. * **Topics**: * **Form Basics**: Using the form element, action and method attributes. * **Input Types**: Exploring various input types (e.g., text, password, checkbox, radio, date, submit). * **Form Elements**: Utilizing label, textarea, select, option, and button. * **Client-side Validation**: Implementing HTML5 validation attributes like required, minlength, and pattern. * **Activity**: Students build a complete contact form with different input fields, radio buttons, and basic HTML5 validation. **Class 4: Introduction to CSS3 and Basic Styling** The final class introduces Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to style the HTML content and make the web pages visually appealing and accessible. * **Topics**: * **CSS Fundamentals**: The role of CSS, selectors, properties, and values. * **Integrating CSS**: Using inline, internal, and external style sheets. * **The Box Model**: Understanding margin, padding, border, and content for basic layout. * **Basic Styling**: Changing colors, fonts, and text alignment. * **Accessibility Basics**: Identifying principles of web design usability and accessibility, including ARIA labels. * **Activity**: Students apply an external CSS file to their Class 3 form project to style the layout, colors, and fonts, culminating in a well-structured and styled webpage.
