Since summer 2014 we've held regular events in London, based on the successful Women in Bitcoin evenings already happening in the USA, Canada, Germany and elsewhere. TALK ONE:

Elly Zhang: TokenCard - how to spend cryptocurrencies
Elly will talk about the next generation wallet for cryptocurrencies - Contract Wallet, which offers more functionalities while keeping decentralization. Elly is also going to introduce the TokenCard, a way to make cryptocurrencies spendable in any shop that accepts card payments.

Elly Zhang is a London based global blockchain pioneer and influencer. Elly was born in Shanghai, China, and grew up in the financial centre of Asia, Hong Kong. She has her Bachelor of Arts degree in English for Professional Communication from City University of Hong Kong and a masters in Applied Corporate Brand Management from Brunel University London.

Shaun Biggs: The WAVES platform
Shaun will give an overview of the Waves Platform including - current and upcoming features, Waves NG scalability solution, Smart Contracts and the wider Waves eco-system.

Shaun has over 10 years experience in Business and IT working in varied roles for large organisations and national charities including Hertfordshire University and the YMCA. He began his crypto journey in 2013 by setting up and running his own industrial-scale mining facility. Since then Shaun has immersed himself in many areas of the Blockchain industry. Recently finding himself appointed as Waves UK Ambassador.

TALK THREE:

Dr Vincent Siyau; Proof of Work vs Proof of Stake
The talk will be focusing on two major consensus algorithms namely: PoW and PoS with simplistic illustrations on the basic mechanism and constrast, convering the differences and their implications in the future space of blockchain technologies. Some inhenrent issues and challenges will also be discussed to provide general understanding in these two algorithms.

Dr Vincent Siyau is the course director for the MSc in Advanced Telecommunication and Wireless Engineering at London South Bank University. His major is related to smart receiver techniques in mobile wireless networks and IoT technologies. He is also currently carrying out research consolidating blockchain innovations and potential developments that can bring about the technological evolution and revolution for future distributed networks.
