Thankful for our Friends and Ukes

UKULELE, by Sandra Beasley (https://tinyurl.com/y25toh83)
The vessel is simple - a rowboat among yachts.
No one hides a Tommy gun in its case.
No bluesman runs over his uke in a whiskey rage.
The last of the Hawaiian queens translated the name "gift that came here", while the Portuguese historians translate "jumping flea" the way a player's fingers pick and fly.
If you have a cigar box, it'll do.
If you have fishing line, it'll sing.
If there is to be one instrument of love, not love vanished or imagined, but love, it's this one.
Fit a melody in the crook of your arm and strum.
It's time go give thanks; thanks for family and friends, thanks for the things that have brought us joy, and for the gifts that make life beautiful. We, the Ukulele Friends Ohana, are thankful for all of you who have come together to create the beauty and joy found in the gift of music.
The song list this week has come to us courtesy of Linda and Noah.
You may suggest a song - just add it to the google spreadsheet - or just suggest a song the day we play together. You don't have to lead the song; however, the song should be one from our regular repertoire and be available on the groups google drive.
You can also email me at jelliott2kmail@gmail.com with suggestions or questions.

Here is the usual info about our virtual Meetups:
-
Use the zoom link further below to join the zoom meeting. If you download the zoom app onto your computer, tablet or phone (whichever device you use for the Meetup) you shouldn't need a login or password.
-
In this format one person leads the song, and everyone else mutes their microphones on the zoom app prior to the song starting. This is necessary because Zoom picks up the loudest sound, and if multiple people are un-muted, the sound becomes very garbled.
-
Depending on your platform, iPad, PC, Mac, ChromeBook etc., there may be a way to set your audio to 'original sound'. We'd recommend this, if you can, as the ukulele has a tendency to sound tinny otherwise.
-
In the song list, there is a spreadsheet listing the songs and song leaders. There are usually open slots for leaders, so if you'd like to lead a song, you are welcome to message me back and let me know which song you'd like to lead, or just let us know at the start of the meetup.
