As one of Thailand’s longest-running communities for science enthusiasts, we’ve seen plenty of breakthroughs—but lately, the world of mRNA is moving at a pace that feels like science fiction.

This month, we’re doing things differently. There’s no formal keynote speaker. Instead, we’re hosting a BkkSci Social—a dedicated space to mingle, grab a drink, and dive deep into the latest developments in biotechnology.

🧪 The Hot Topic: Paul Conyngham & Rosie
The primary spark for our conversation this month is the viral story of Australian tech entrepreneur Paul Conyngham. When his rescue dog, Rosie, was diagnosed with incurable mast cell cancer, Paul didn’t accept the "months to live" sentence.

Leveraging his background in AI and data science, Paul used ChatGPT and AlphaFold to analyze the genetic sequencing of Rosie's tumor. He then collaborated with Professor Páll Thordarson (UNSW RNA Institute) to manufacture a custom-made, personalized mRNA vaccine specifically for her.
The result? Within weeks, Rosie’s tumors shrank by up to 75%, and her energy returned. It’s a landmark "N-of-1" case that is forcing researchers to rethink how quickly we can democratize personalized medicine.

🗓️ What to expect:

  • Mingle & Chat: Connect with fellow scientists, researchers, and tech enthusiasts in Bangkok.
  • Deep Dive Discussion: We’ll be discussing the technical and ethical implications of Paul's project. Was it "trivially easy" as some skeptics say, or a revolutionary blueprint for the future of human cancer treatment?
  • mRNA & Beyond: Let's talk about the next frontier—from rabies mRNA vaccines for pets to the latest in human oncology trials.

Event Details

  • When: Thursday, March 26th | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (
