We're going to hike up Pack Monadnock to watch the sunset on top of the mountain. This isn't Mount Monadnock. It's a smaller version of it nearby. "Pack" is a native American term for "small". We hike up the trail but for safety reasons we will walk down the paved Road after Dark. Yes there is a paved road to the summit.
Sunset: 8:15 PM EDT
Moonrise: 4:53 PM EDT
Bring q flashlight or headlamps. Sunset should be great.
Needless to say that headlamps and/or flashlights are mandatory. Please bring appropriate clothing and foot gear. IE hiking boats.
This should be a great opportunity for photos as well. Bring your nice cameras.
There is a Raptor observatory at the summit so you birders get ready.
We will go out afterwards for dinner at some local pub.
It's not a difficult climb. it only should take about 60 - 90 minutes to Summit. 900 feet of elevation gain.
The New Hampshire Audubon as a raptor migration Observatory station up there. So if we're lucky there will be some experts there doing some bird watching. It's a popular spot with them. For the birds and the Watchers :-)
Also bring snacks and beverages for a quick picnic at the summit.
Its $4 to park - Bring Cash
