This series of Mountain Mondays are great for beginners, those who need a recovery hike after tough weekend hikes, those who need a slower pace to acclimate to the Mt Charleston elevation, or those who need to complete their level 1 chips. These hikes are centered around having fun and enjoying the mountains.

We are going to enjoy a fabulous waterfall and a hidden slot canyon. Bring your adventurous spirit.

We will meet at Santa Fe Casino self parking garage level 2 at 2:45pm. We will be on the trail by 3:30pm and down about 5:30pm. Then, back to our cars before 6:30pm. Bring headlamps-always.

Safety is the first priority of our hikes. Therefore, all hikers in our group, including another leader who joins us, will stay behind the leader and in front of the sweeper.

Hot weather is here. Be prepared...
1....1-2 liters of water per person, electrolyte replacements, and sun-protective gear
2...sunscreen (SPF 30+)
3...salty snacks
4...hat and sunglasses

Group Hiking: Stay with the group behind the leader. If you don’t want to stay with us, you can always go hiking on your own, though it’s not recommended. Don’t run ahead. If you start to get too far behind, shout ahead before you’re out of range for someone to hear you. I always endeavor to keep track of everyone’s progress, but ultimately, it’s your responsibility to communicate what you need.

Safety
Getting everyone through the hike safely is my first priority. You can help yourself and everyone else stay safe by being aware of the following: Rock Fall – This is one of the greatest dangers we face. Don’t unnecessarily cause any extra rock fall, and be certain to alert hikers below you should a rock accidentally start to fall their way.
Helmets are not mandatory but they do protect your brain.

STATS
4.5 miles
Time: 2 hours hiking
