A terrific local bass player, Fred Randolph, heads up a strong quartet for this show. It's been some years since I've had a chance to see one of Fred's ensembles in action, so I'm looking forward to this concert! For this show, Fred will be joined by Matt Clark, piano; Sheldon Brown, reeds; and Brian Fishler, drums.

EVENT COST: $1 donation to the Meetup organizer (that's me!), plus the cover charge for the show, collected upon entry to the bookstore (no advance ticket sales). CASH only for the cover charge.

NOTE: I expect the cover charge will be $20, but it's not listed yet on the bookstore website. I'll update this Event Description when I get that information.

SEATING is general-admission, on folding chairs with cushions. (The musicians are on a slightly raised stage.) You may BYOB, but no food is allowed inside the store.

IMPORTANT: Concertgoers need to call Bird & Beckett at 415-586-3733 to request a seat for themselves. (You can mention that you're with Paula's Meetup group.) After you have heard back from the store that you have a reservation, please let me know so that I have a good idea of how many Meetup attendees to expect.

WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Unless joining me for the optional pre-show dinner, meet outside the bookstore by 8:15 p.m. Please allow extra time for transit or parking, since latecomers risk forfeiting their seats to other people in line. (The concert is scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m., and will likely go to at least 10:00 p,m.)

HOW TO FIND ME: See my photo with my Meetup profile. (I'm WF, about 5 feet tall, with glasses and short, salt-and-pepper hair.) I'll send my cellphone number to RSVPers before the show.

TRANSIT/PARKING: The bookstore is located less than two blocks from the Glen Park BART station and Muni bus lines (and about one block from two ATMs) in an attractive commercial/residential neighborhood. Parking is on the street.

OPTIONAL PRE-SHOW DINNER at 7:00 p.m. at a good Thai restaurant across the street from Glen Park BART station. The headcount for the dinner is limited to six people (with preference to Meetup members who don't have a habit of flaking out on their rsvps). I'll happily accommodate additional people for the concert itself. When RSVPing for the concert, please indicate if you're interested in the dinner as well (as space allows).
