О нас

This is a group for global developers around the world, to hangout, share knowledge and make connections. Our events are free (unless stated otherwise) and open to all levels, languages, and backgrounds. Our main communication is in English, but most of us also speak Japanese (and other languages!).

Mercari is Japan’s largest C2C marketplace with over 20 million monthly users. Through the Mercari app, users can sell their used or unwanted items to those who need them just by taking a photo and entering in some basic information.

We are constantly developing our app to provide an environment where anyone can conduct transactions easily, safely, and securely. As part of these efforts, we have invested in the latest technologies such as AI and machine learning, and have released various functions such as escrow payment, AI listing, and barcode listing. The app currently operates in Japan and the US, with 5.6 million monthly users in the US (as of 2022.3).

We have also successfully launched new businesses such as our mobile payment service Merpay. Today, Mercari Group is made up of multiple subsidiary businesses, including those involved in logistics, B2C e-commerce, blockchain, and sports team management.

In 2022, Mercari, Inc. established a Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, India—our first development base outside Japan and the US.

mercari GEARS 2025 is a tech event that invites you to experience the culture and technical challenges of Mercari's Engineering Organization first-hand.

More than a series of information-sharing sessions, the event is a place for engineers to meet, share their experiences, and create new opportunities through interaction.

The theme of this year's event is "Mercari's Engineering Today." We'll share our past technical challenges as well as the cutting-edge innovations of Mercari Group's engineering organization, where we are constantly evolving to become an AI-native development organization.
With this event, we hope participants will interact directly with Mercari's engineers and get inspired to create new ideas.
