We will meet at 9:00 am at the Miwuk Ranger Station on Highway 108 for introductions, information and possible ride sharing. We will then drive to the Crabtree Trail Head located 1/2 hour drive on Crabtree Trailhead. We should arrive at the Crabtree Trailhead at 9:40. Crabtree Trail is a great, moderate hike to the beautiful Bear Lake. It starts with an incline but levels out after about 30 minutes. We will rest at Camp Lake and eat our lunch at Bear Lake. Some people may want to swim at Bear Lake. The hike is an out and back 8 mile hike. There is 931 feet elevation gain. Please bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch , hat , sunscreen, hiking boots (and hiking poles) , and insect protection. A jacket can come in handy for sudden rain storms.
