Bistro B is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants. Their menu is huge and one of the best values around. The dishes are a fusion of different asian influences and generally very healthy. My favorite dishes are mostly fresh, raw vegetables with modest meat portions. Their use of fresh mint and cilantro is what attracted me. Try the #14 pork egg rolls w vegetables and #18 steamed dumplings appetizers. The #103 pork & egg roll w vermicelli, #116 (w a side of rice papers) is a feast, #202 tofu w mixed vegetables are a few of my favorites entrees, the iced coffee is the BEST anywhere and the smoothies are incredible. They have large round tables that seat 9 people so I'm imposing a 9 person maximum. It's at Walnut & Audelia.

I've had numerous friends ask about a New Years Eve party so lets get together and celebrate the coming of a new and even better year. We will have a pot luck dinner around 6:30 followed by some socializing around the campfire. Show up anytime, camp overnight if you like. You can hike the trail, fish and paddle kayaks and paddleboards. If you plan on drinking, please plan on staying the night.

Campfires are an important part of camping. In Texas, campfires are a year round tradition and not necessarily about staying warm. They are peaceful and relaxing and a perfect setting to share stories and laughter and get to know other campers. This group can burn a lot of wood so let's stock up. We will be splitting cordwood with Rubins hydraulic splitter and dropping and cutting a big standing dead tree. Bring your chainsaw if you have one. No experience necessary, just bring appropriate clothing and gloves. You can take some wood home and camp out if you want to. Event is predicated on it being dry enough to drive our trucks and equipment back there.

Lake Mineral Wells State Park and Trailway - We will be camping and dining!
March 5th to March 8th, 2026. Some will arrive Thursday afternoon and some will come on Friday. We’ll be leaving on Sunday.
I reserved 2 spots side by side at the Shelter Area Loop - Shelters E and F – to accommodate 4 tents per site and up to 8 peeps per site so you don’t have to reserve your own and we can stay together. The shelter areas have amazing views and are the nicest area to camp in the park. You can also reserve your own site if you like.
I have pre-paid for the shelters already so you can join us and then pitch in when you get here if you want. Plenty of room for everyone! Also, there’s a Park Entrance Fee of $7.00 per day that you’ll have to pay.
Friday morning we’re driving to Weatherford to have breakfast and explore downtown including the Farmers Market and shops and museums. Then in the afternoon we’ll have a day hike on one of the “Primitive Trails”. Also, some of us can go out on the lake for a paddle. Then Friday night we’ll sit around the fire and have Pizza.
Saturday morning, after coffee and breakfast at camp, we will walk the main beautiful trail. In the afternoon, we will visit Mineral Wells, including the Crazy Water Hotel, the famous Pawnshop and other cool shops.
Saturday evening we will carpool to the famous Mary’s Café in Strawn to eat the best Chicken Fried Steak you’ll ever have (they also have other great dishes!) After dinner we’ll drive back to the Lake and sit around a big campfire. Marshmallows if I remember!
Sunday morning after coffee and packing up, we can stop in Weatherford for brunch or lunch on the way home.
