In traditional architectures, the same data model is used to both query and update a database. And as a result, you end up with very complex models that have a lot of logic inside them, such as validations, conversions, and so on.

Have you ever thought about implementing CQRS and Event Sourcing design patterns in your next big project? Do you know all pros and cons of these approaches?

For the last 10 years, Event Sourcing has seen its ups and downs with multiple implementations in a huge variety of projects. In Wix, we have several projects such as Invoices, Stores, and some other that successfully integrated Event Sourcing in their architecture.

In this meetup, I will share the engineering challenges we faced and eventually solved when implementing and using Event Sourcing in a product that is heavily used daily by data developers creating, updating, and running thousands of data jobs. And that’s from daily jobs to jobs that are running every 5 minutes.

Max is a passionate developer and lecturer. He joined Wix more than 8 years ago, and has been working for the past 2 years as a backend developer in the Data Infrastructure team.
