О нас
We are a social walking club based in Sheffield aimed at people in their 20s and 30s. The group has been around since July 2002 and has been growing steadily ever since – currently we have around 200 members! We are part of the Ramblers, Britain's largest walking charity.
We're always on the lookout for new members, so please book on to a walk or social, or come along to one of our monthly New Members' Nights.
More events and further information about the group is listed on our Web page: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/
Being a Ramblers affiliated group we encourage our participants to join the Ramblers Association. This allows you to attend our great weekends away and get other Ramblers benefits. It also helps support the great work that Ramblers do to keep the countryside open to all and to fight for the things that matter most to walkers. You can read more about the work done by Ramblers here.
We have walks of varying lengths every weekend in the Peak District or the South Yorkshire countryside.
We have an active Socials programme ranging from meals out and cinema trips to dancing and pool championships, not to mention a Easter Egg, Pub Hunt and a Christmas Party every year. There's something for everyone!
We organise weekends away to beautiful locations across the UK such as Snowdonia, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. They're a great opportunity to see some of the most picturesque parts of the country and take a break from work and the city for a very reasonable price.
We’re a Ramblers group run by volunteers who we rely on to keep it going. There are lots of ways to get involved, so if you’d like to lead a walk, organise a social or join the committee, we’d love to hear from you!

To mark Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust's 'Living Waters' campaign (https://www.wildsheffield.com/campaign/living-waters), which aims to improve the health of our rivers and wetlands; we'll be following one of Sheffield's green corridors between two of the Trust's urban nature reserves. From Woodhouse train station we'll walk through Woodhouse Washlands Nature Reserve, where last year 215 harvest mouse nests were recorded! We'll hear lapwing and skylark and maybe even glimpse the blue flash of a kingfisher.
We'll then head through Shire Brook Nature Reserve, where recent funding has created new habitats and a sculpture trail; if it's sunny we'll spot butterflies and dragonflies.
We'll continue along the Trans Pennine Way, briefly entering another Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, Carbrook Ravine, heading through Manor Park and then Norfolk Park, maybe stopping at the Cafe for cake. Then heading into Sheffield we'll finish at Sunnybank Nature Reserve, the Trust's very first reserve. Maybe we'll have a quick look to see if there are any frogs in the pond! The Beer Engine will be the optional final stop.

From the carpark we'll head down past the bottom reservoir and then turn right to head along the southern side of the waters. Carrying on off the end of the reservoirs, we'll bear left through Copy Wood and then along the fields to Hollins. A few hundred metres of walking along pavement, and then it's back into fields, then woodland, descending to the reservoirs and then the car park.
There's a pub called The Peacock around 1km from the car park, so that's the place to go for drinks afterwards. There are plenty of picnic benches etc around the reservoirs, so we'll try to grab a nice spot for lunch.

The public transport situation is difficult on a Sunday, so I'd recommend car-sharing as much as possible. Please organise in the comments. Parking is £3.50, and the machine only seems to accept cash.Be prepared:
