If I have to put up with a spammy list, but it means that someone among us is getting/ giving work- then so be it.
I?ll gripe about topicality once the economy turns around.

Hi All,
This conversation about who to go to is fantastic, but there are a few things that I would like to point out. If I offend anyone by replying to all, please accept my apology in advance.
1. The only person who complained is someone from Michigan, not even from DC. If they drop from the list who cares. If others are unhappy they should speak up.
2. If someone is looking for someone to do web work, this is the wrong group to ask for help in. While there are people here who might be able to make recommendations, Refresh DC (http://www.refresh-dc.org) is the place for that sort of ask. Anyone in that group will be able to make recommendations ? either in person or in their discussion forums. Craigslist and Jobmatchbox.com are also good places to post a help wanted listing. Baltimore also has a chapter, Refresh BMore (http://www.RefreshBmore.org). Someone looking for help with something more specific? Try Web Content Mavens, DC Web Women, or one of many DC/VA/MD user groups. All of these groups have one thing in common, they share their event details on DC Tech Events (http://www.dctechevents.com) so they are easy to find.
3. While Paul?s goal may be to pattern this on other people?s groups, including the NY Tech meetup, I would point out that that doesn?t mean that people have to discuss all things in one list. Try to be too much to too many people and you will be nothing much to anyone. I would also point out that the NY Tech meetup holds elections, this group doesn?t.
