About us
A group dedicated to dancing for social, emotional, and physical health. We are a dance studio, but also a community of people who love to use dance as a means to express ourselves and meet people that you would otherwise get a chance to meet. Whether it's taking a dance class together, or creating practice groups, going out dancing, building a flash mob, or watching a dance related movie together, we want to do that with you. The Viscount Dance Studio offers classes, dances, practice space, dance parties, and even a dance-film movie night (if you can call Xanadu a film!). We are all about the people and relationships that are formed here, and the transformations people see in their lives when they enter a dance community. Come join us!

Babywearing Dance Class
The Viscount Dance Studio, 720 Southeast Sandy Boulevard, Portland, OR, USInstructor: Zoe
All levels $18
Pre-registration on Mindbody REQUIRED!
Boogie with your baby in this joyful, low-impact, follow-along dance fitness class. This class offers a wonderful opportunity to be part of a community and enjoy the proven benefits of babywearing and movement for bonding, development, and parental and infant well-being.- Bring your own ergonomic symmetrical carrier
- Your baby should be between 8 weeks to 2 years old, 7+ lbs, with good head/neck control
- Expectant parents also welcome!
- Suitable for all fitness levels and no dance experience is necessary.
Our babies wiggle, sleep, sway with us to high-energy beats—we love it all.
What baby carrier should I bring?:
A secure, symmetrical, ergonomic carrier that keeps your baby snug and supported while allowing you to move freely. The carrier should hold your baby high, close, and facing inward, with their knees higher than their hips in an “M” position.- Suitable options:
- Soft Structured Carriers (e.g. Ergobaby, Tula, LILLEbaby, or BobaX), which offer adjustable straps and support
- Mei Tai carriers (hybrid between a wrap and a structured carrier)
- Carriers to avoid:
- narrow-based carriers, (e.g. older BabyBjörn models) that don't support healthy hip positioning.
- stretchy wraps (may sag during movement and lack support for dancing)
- ring slings ( do not offer the stability needed for active movement)
### $16 per person - PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED

SALSA 1 - intro/beg
Mondays 6:15-7:15p
Drop in - $18, 4 Class Pass - $65
Please register at www.danceviscount.com to attend this class. Follow the class link below to sign up. Offered in-person and via Zoom!Welcome to the exciting world of Salsa! Contrary to what many believe about Salsa dancing, it is a very forgiving, intuitive and easy to learn social dance. Salsa is not only fun, but socially relevant given Portland's growing diversity in Latino Culture. Aside from Salsa, students will dabble in Merengue and Bachata - two dance styles that are equally as popular in the Salsa clubs, and both just as easy (if not easier!) than Salsa. This class will cover the fundamental basic steps and concepts make Salsa what it is: frame, body movement, partnering, and how to navigate the local Salsa scene/dance floor. We will discuss Salsa specific dance technique and the core framework of leading and following as true with any Latin dance, as well as tips on how to cover up mistakes, non-intimidating stylistic flairs to spice up any move, and dance floor etiquette. Students will also learn 3 or more 'moves' to use on the dance floor and be introduced to the Cross Body Lead, Salsa's most common type of intermediate move. No partner or prior experience necessary
