Who Should Join?
This group is open to anyone with an interest in discussing books related to feminism and meeting other like-minded readers in Taipei!
My hope is that this group can work together and build on each others' unique strengths and experiences. We will focus on intersectional feminism and strive to be as inclusive as possible. If you have suggestions for events or books to discuss, please feel free to share your ideas!
This group welcomes feminists and feminist allies of all gender identities. However, the focus is on those who experience widespread oppression based on their gender (i.e. women and trans/genderqueer people). People attending events should be in support of this focus and spend more time listening than speaking. Those who make anyone at the meetings uncomfortable will be banned without warning.
How Do the Book Discussions Work?
We meet, typically, the first Sunday of every month at The Lightened Cafe. There we discuss the book and enjoy some delicious coffee and other beverages. At the end of every meeting we choose a book to read the following meeting. Books are selected through voting. Currently, the book selections and discussions are in English (but if you'd prefer to read a Chinese translation of the same book, that's fine!)

Principles of the Taipei Feminist Book Club:
1) Equality
-Race, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality
-Treat others with quality and respect
-Read books through an equality lens

-Using preferred pronouns
-Respecting the authority of the moderator
-Being considerate of others thoughts and feelings
3) Conflict Resolution
-Understanding mistakes happen

4) Accessibility
-Fund for those who cannot pay the one drink minimum at the cafe
-Safe space
-All voices are heard
5) Radical self-expression
