The Scary Story Night
Details
It's October, and you know what that means: it's Halloween 🎃
I am introducing a Japanese folktale "Hoichi the Earless", retold in English by a Greek-American named Patrick Lafcadio Hearn in 1904.
He came to Japan as a journalist and later married a Japanese woman of samurai lineage.
The short story collection from which this piece is from is called Kaidan, meaning Horror Tales, many of which have been passed down orally over the generations.
On this special occasion, can you also share an interesting horror story from your country? We can have a little book club of horrors!
