Description:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have become buzzwords for the tech industry as well as a mainstay of science fiction and popular culture. In this talk, Brad Gayman, will discuss some of the historic progress made in the field as well as the philosophical suppositions that guide different approaches to AI. The talk question whether general purpose computer intelligence is as imminent as some suggest or whether it is an elusive goal perpetually averred as just around the corner.

Bio:
Brad Gayman is currently an iOS programmer at WeWork on the Real Estate and Development Technology team. Prior to that he worked on projects large and small at App Partner, a mobile development agency in Brooklyn.
Previously, he was a high school Geometry teacher in Flatbush Brooklyn and was also Public Policy and Technology Intern at The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

Description:
In this talk we'll go over the differences between native mobile app development and hybrid approaches. After discussing a few of the cross platform development options, we will work through the benefits that they provide along with the drawbacks that still exist. At the end, you’ll leave with an understanding of why people are being drawn to these cross platform tools, but why native mobile app development is still king.

Bio:
Adam is a Software Engineer, Android enthusiast, and pun aficionado. He fell in love with Android when he picked it up as a hobby in 2013 and he’s been staying on top of the latest trends and contributing to open source projects ever since. Adam also strives to be an active member of the developer community – traveling the country to attend and speak at hackathons and conferences to both educate and learn from others in the community.
