🌍 World Cultures Series: East Asian Star Tales & Traditions Workshop

Welcome to our World Cultures series. Bangkok is home to people from many different countries, and we’d love to create a welcoming space where anyone can come together to share, learn, and appreciate each other's cultures and traditions that make our world so beautifully diverse.

What Is It About?
⭐️ Have you heard the ancient tales of two lovers represented by our stars Vega and Altair, separated by the Milky Way and reunited just once a year?
🌟 Celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, which falls on August 19 this year, this timeless story has inspired beautiful traditions across East Asia. Today, it is celebrated as Tanabata in Japan, Chilseok in Korea, Thất Tịch in Vietnam, Qixi in China and a few other countries with each culture adding its own unique customs and traditions.

What To Expect
🪅 We’ll be exploring the East Asian legend behind the stars through various handmade crafts including stars, wish tags, bookmarks, and other simple decorative crafts. Afterward, you can choose what feels most meaningful to you:
🎁 Exchange your creation with an old friend you came with or a new friend you meet at the event.
🎁 Gift your creation to one of the foundations we volunteer with, where it will be shared with people in underserved communities as a small reminder that someone cares.
