In this talk, Joshua Wright from the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition will discuss the movement to save legacy forest on state owned lands in Western Washington, including citizen science work, and the campaign to protect Green Mountain State Forest.
Joshua Wright is an award-winning filmmaker and a youth forest activist, working for the preservation of the more than human world. He works as the Program Director of the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition and leads our work in Southeast Alaska. In British Columbia, he uses satellite imagery to track the logging of endangered old-growth forests and works with lead researchers to protect endangered species living in threatened old growth forests. He was a part of the Fairy Creek Blockade which facilitated the largest active civil disobedience in Canadian history. Joshua lives in rural Mason County and has been involved with groups including Mason County Climate Justice, Fridays For Future Namibia and Extinction Rebellion.
