Who Made You an Expert? (Free Weds Night 6pm Chiang Mai Discussion Night)

Who Made You an Expert?
Chiang Mai didn't invent the self-help economy, but it's become one of many concentrated laboratories. Low cost of living that photographs as luxury. You've seen them. The sunrise rooftop photo. The caption about replacing a 9-to-5 in 90 days. The course link. The coaching inquiry form. The community for people who want to live like them — for a monthly fee… Two Months To Enlightenment Course at $1999..Be Your Authentic Self etc.
The life coaching industry requires zero credentials and generates over $20 billion annually. Some of that money funds genuine transformation. Some of it funds something else entirely. The line between the two is harder to find than most of us want to admit — and we're not always looking for it as carefully as we should be.
For this Wednesday nights discussion we'll be asking questions and prompts around:
What actually makes someone qualified to help another person change? (Not necessarily what their credential says. Nor what we assume) And what actually (for you) makes the difference.
We’ll also be doing some interesting group exercises on how each of us, individually, deal with the wide variety of claims we see (by both potentially ‘real’ and unreal’) coaches who seem to find their way to Chiang Mai.
With all our collective experiences, we think it should be a fun discussion.
As usual at Questions That Matter Chiang Mai, the goal of the night isn’t simply to agree, disagree, or learn. It’s also to connect through genuine, lively, interactive discussion and, potentially, to go to some of the unexpected and uncharted places that deep and free conversation can take us.
Since we started Questions That Matter, between 25 and 50 people have joined us weekly. When we wrap up, we hope you’ll mingle and exchange numbers. As polarized as the world is right now, one of the deepest connections still available to human beings is a shared meal, and every week many of us all go for dinner and you’re very welcome to join us.
Whether you’re in Chiang Mai for a short visit or you’re a long-term expat, we hope you can join us—not only to explore the deeper questions but to make new connections and friendships.
If possible, please support the venue, 4seas, by purchasing a beverage or a snack. They're kindly providing the space for us at no charge.
See you on Wednesday.
