Details

Claypot rice in Malaysia and Singapore is a classic Cantonese-style one-pot dish where rice is slowly cooked in a traditional clay pot over an open flame. As the rice cooks, the natural moisture and juices from the meats—typically marinated Chicken, Chinese sausage, Pork Spare Ribs and mushrooms—infuse the grains.

We invite you to savour three popular Claypot Rice dishes from home and a nourishing soup for our June 13th Meetup lunch.
1. Chicken Claypot Rice
Nothing really screams comfort food like a generous serving of that incredible earthy flavour of Chicken and Mushroom Clay Pot Rice. Flavourful and juicy chicken chunks and mushrooms served with slices of lap cheong, bits of salted fish and vegetables and that characteristic burnt bits of rice will bring back that good taste of nostalgia from home.
2. Waxmeat Claypot Rice (Lap Mei Fun)
Waxed Meat Claypot Rice is a beloved Cantonese comfort dish featuring fluffy steamed rice topped with cured Chinese sausages (lap cheong), liver sausages (yun cheong), and preserved pork belly, creating a rich, savory, and slightly sweet flavor profile.
3. Black Bean Spare Ribs Claypot Rice
Mouth-watering Claypot Black Bean Spareribs Rice is an iconic Cantonese dish consisting of juicy pork ribs flavoured with fermented black beans, all steamed to perfection on a bed of rice that absorbs every bit of flawless flavour.
4. Chinese Spinach with Trio of Eggs
Soft and tender Chinese spinach leaves cooked in a superior broth infused with century egg, salted egg and ordinary egg. The immersion of flavors makes this vegetable dish so appetising when you have it alone with the above claypot rice servings.
