**About Origami**
Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding and has been shown to promote relaxation, improve memory, patience and hand eye coordination. It is also effective at promoting mindfulness and creative thinking. You will find that origami is fun and relaxing activity that allows you to quieten your mind and allows you to focus, concentrate and be in the present moment.
Origami is a relaxing and peaceful hobby, a beautiful art, a craft, a science and a meditation all in one. When you are folding paper, there is stillness, calm and an inner peace. There is something beautiful in turning a plain flat piece of paper into an amazing three dimensional object with just your own hands. It’s one of the simplest art forms in that it just requires a piece of paper and your hands – there’s no need for tools such as pens, brush, inks and paints.
I call origami ‘yoga for the mind’ as it allows you to stretch and exercise the creative and artistic areas of your brain that most of us don’t utilise on a day to day basis. Origami is a gender and age neutral activity and something that can be practise anywhere as long as you have a piece of paper.

Cycling along the Dutch Waterline!
You’re invited to join us for a cycling trip from Utrecht to Amsterdam, following the historic [Dutch Waterline](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Waterline). As we cycle through green polders and along quiet waterways, you’ll discover how the Dutch once used water as a powerful defense system, by flooding the land in order to stop enemies from invading Holland and taking all our cheese and bicycles :)
We’ll pass old forts and scenic Dutch landscapes, where history and nature are coming together. Come along and experience the beautiful nature and the story of this unique Dutch landscape. All you need is to bring a bicycle, good mood and hopefully some sunscreen!
The meeting point is at Utrecht Central Station and from here it is about 55 km cycling to Amsterdam, and we will have some lunch on the way.
Hope to see you then!
The story we tell ourselves: Self-Image vs Self-Esteem
Have you ever noticed how the way you see yourself can change depending on the situation?
One moment you feel confident and capable — the next you start doubting yourself after a small mistake or comparison.
How do you see yourself on LinkedIn or social media — is it that persona or the quiet inner picture you carry, about who you are?
Sometimes that picture feels strong and confident.
Other times it becomes surprisingly fragile after criticism, comparison, or a simple mistake.
In this meetup we’ll explore two closely related ideas that shape how we experience life:
**Self-image** — the picture we hold of who we are
**Self-esteem** — how we feel about that picture
Through conversation and simple reflection exercises, we’ll look at questions like:
* Where does our self-image actually come from?
* Why can our confidence rise and fall so quickly?
* What role do comparison, expectations, and inner criticism play?
* And how can we build a healthier relationship with ourselves?
Expect an open and thoughtful discussion — not a lecture.
You’re welcome to share your thoughts and experiences, but there’s never any pressure. Listening is just as valuable.
If you're curious about how our inner narratives shape our lives, come join the conversation.
**Who is this for?**
Anyone interested in personal growth, psychology, and understanding how our inner narratives influence our lives.
**What to expect**
* Guided discussion prompts
* Reflection exercises
* Practical insights you can apply in everyday life
**Tone**
Supportive, curious, and judgment-free.
**Disclaimer**
This is not therapy — It's a thoughtful conversation about being human.
Women’s Spring Picnic in Máxima Park (Utrecht) — Connect & Meet
### Let's Feast on Joy and Connection Under the Trees! 🌿
Dear sisters, are you craving connection that goes beyond the superficial? Do you long for a space where you can truly soften, open, and awaken your authentic self?
Our beloved SOMA monthly circle is moving outdoors for a special gathering, and we are calling all women ready to nourish their souls as much as their bodies!
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel isolated, even amidst crowds. The SOMA community was born from a deep understanding that we thrive when we are seen, witnessed, and held in a supportive circle. This picnic is an invitation to step into that sacred space, where judgment dissolves, and genuine connection flourishes.
### What to Expect:
This isn't just a picnic; it's an opportunity to experience the ancient feminine wisdom of gathering in circle, a practice that helps us maintain continuity and a sense of belonging without the pressure to perform.
Here, your emotions are your anchor, and your presence is your power.
We will engage in:
•Grounding Rituals: Simple practices to bring us fully into our bodies and the present moment.
•Meaningful Conversation: Heart-led sharing where every voice is valued, and every story is witnessed.
•The Medicine of Nature: Allowing the serene embrace of Maxima Park to soothe our spirits and deepen our connection to ourselves and each other.
Come for the sisterhood, stay for the laughter, and leave feeling regulated, radiant, and deeply held. It's a space where we collectively create a coherent field, stepping into something truly transformative through body-led healing and authentic presence.
### Practical Details:
•Bring: Your favorite snack to share with the circle, a blanket or cushion for comfort, and most importantly, an open heart.
•Location: Maxima Park, Utrecht (Specific meeting point details will be shared with RSVPs).
•Date: Sunday, 12th April 2026
•Time: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
### Join Our Sisterhood:
Ready to deepen your connection and be a part of our growing SOMA community? DM me 'SISTER' to join our WhatsApp group and stay updated on all our gatherings and workshops.
We can't wait to welcome you!
