What we’re about
WhyNot Adventures Who we are and what we do.
WhyNot Adventures is a social group that in various forms has been sponsoring hiking and outdoor activities of several decades. Our most frequent regularly scheduled activity is hiking on Sunday mornings beginning in October and continuing through April.
As our members have multiple interests including biking, kayaking and camping, these activities are also posted on our site, especially during our non hiking summer season.
Our Sunday Hikes begin at 9:30. Please allow yourself enough travel time to arrive, introduce yourself, and be ready to leave promptly out of consideration for those who have.
We hike rain, snow, or shine throughout the winter and spring, so dress accordingly for the conditions. Our hikes are social events but they are hikes, and though we stop frequently, they are not usually a stroll in the park. It is not always be the case, but depending on conditions, you should expect and be prepared for stream crossings, elevation gains, rough and potentially muddy trails.
Also depending on conditions and the group makeup we may have trail options of distance and difficulty. We stop and regroup during the course of the hike so none are left behind. Always let someone know if you are having difficulty.
Dogs and children who are well behaved and under control so as not to interfere or endanger others are welcome. Park regulations require dogs to be on leash. Leashes for children are optional unless behavior is a problem.
Please come prepared to enjoy the day and your fellow hikers. Many of us go to lunch together at a nearby restaurant following the hike. Food has always an important part of our group activities
