Greed > Fear: How Entrepreneurs Can Raise Millions (free talk + Q&A)
Details
Language: English. In person in Da Nang: on-site seats are limited to 20, first come first served. Online for all on Zoom. Just RSVP here on Meetup. We'll share the venue with everyone who RSVPs, and the Zoom link on the day of the event.
I sat on both sides of the table. As a founder, I've raised $250M+. As an investor, I've deployed $500M+ across 15 countries. Every raise comes down to one thing: greed ersus fear. The founder brings the greed: the vision, the upside, the size of the prize. The investor brings the fear: of losing money, of the wrong team, of no exit. You get the money when greed is greater than fear.
This is a 30-minute condensed version of Greed vs Fear: Partnering with Investors to Accelerate Entrepreneurial Growth, an 18-hour course I've taught at elite universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I teach it from both sides, as an AI entrepreneur and as an AI investor, for founders raising institutional venture capital or private equity, from seven figures to nine figures in US dollars. The full course runs in five sessions: PE and Society, Get Greedy, Mind of the Investor, Pitch Day, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Its core lesson: package your plan so investors' greed overwhelms their fear.
It's also a first look at my interim research and thesis for the sequel to The Ten Commandments of Investing, a Wall Street Journal and USA Today best seller.
In 30 minutes:
- How a venture or private equity fund actually works, and why that changes how you pitch.
- The Greed List: what makes institutional investors lean in, updated for AI.
- The Fear List: what makes them say no, and why AI-era diligence now runs in weeks, not months.
- Three fixes you can make to your pitch this week.
Then it gets real: two volunteer decks pitched to the room, with you as the investment committee. Bring yours.
Bonus: after the talk I'll offer a few free 20-minute fundraising readiness reviews (deck, story, plan).
A special invitation: if you're an AI founder past $10K in monthly recurring revenue (MRR) and getting ready to raise venture capital, I especially want to meet you. I'm keen to work with and advise a few founders at that stage.
Free. On-site seats are limited to 20, so RSVP now.
This is education about the fundraising process. Nothing at this event is an offer to buy or sell any security, and we don't make introductions to investors.
