Mobile Games: How GAMELOFT's Business Model is shifting from Freemium to Free+Advertising.
[New: "Ask The Lawyer": Short Presentation by a Lawyer, before the main presentation. This month: Minimum Wages for Thais and for Foreigners]
In 1999, Michel GUILLEMOT and his four brothers (all Ubisoft founders) founded GAMELOFT with the goal of producing quality games that consumers could easily download on their mobile phone.

By 2003, over 100 mobile phones were compatible with GAMELOFT titles and the company was profitable.
Today GAMELOFT releases around 15 games every year, thanks to its 5,000 developers in 21 gaming studios around the world.
2 Million new GAMELOFT games are downloaded every day.
But like most video game studios, in the recent years GAMELOFT have changed their business Model from Premium (paid for) games to Freemium (free games with paid option) to adding Mobile Advertising as a core component of their monetization strategy. They have now become a media, selling directly their advertising space and relying on advertisers to drive recurring revenue.
Why these changes? What does this mean for the Gaming industry? And is this a viable Business Model?
