Bangkok Storytelling Collective | "Moth Night"
Details
Love a good story? So do we.
CHANGE OF DATE - Due to Songkran, we’re meeting April 23
CHANGE OF VENUE - Public House (no DJ! Will be nice & quiet)
Reservation begins at 7PM, and we'll be starting at 7:30PM sharp, please try to be on time.
Join us for a cozy night of live storytelling and listening, inspired by The Moth, the beloved U.S. nonprofit that champions fostering human connection through storytelling.
Check out some of their performers here.
Our community is quite diverse in age, gender, sexuality, culture & background. Like The Moth, our goal is to connect authentically and build a community centered on shared human experience.
We meet once a month, first to warm up with some casual on-the-spot storytelling games, then get settled in for prepared performances.
All stories (both casual and prepared) follow The Moth's style:
🔹 True, personal and told in the first person
🔹 No longer than 5 minutes long
🔹 Told from memory (no reading)
🔹 Themed around emotion, vulnerability & self-growth
Prefer to just listen?
Perfect. We're looking for eager storytellers and story-listeners! Every storyteller needs a kind, curious, and responsive audience. Your presence matters!
Whether you’re ready for 5 minutes of fame or just want to soak in others’ stories, you’ll be part of a welcoming, vibrant community built around laughter, reflection, and human connection.
Ready to take the leap?
If you do wish to prepare a 5 minute story in advance, please review The Moth's storytelling advice and this month's theme. Also, make sure to message me (Shaf, the organizer) and I'll talk you through some guidelines. Here's this month's theme:
***
QUESTIONS
Prepare a five minute story about questioning. Pondering the space between yes and no, true and false. The existence of God, the tooth fairy, UFOs, and soulmates. Wanting to believe or embracing the uncertainty. Second guessing everything beyond a shadow of a doubt. Skeptical, suspicious, hesitant, or just curious.
