The Nervous System Behind Parenting
Details
Parenting is often approached through behaviour and communication strategies, yet beneath every reaction lies the nervous system.
This session explores how stress responses, attachment patterns, and unresolved experiences shape parental reactivity in real time. Through a trauma and attachment-informed CADP coaching lens, participants will gain a clearer understanding of regulation, co-regulation, and how relational safety influences both parent and child.
Rather than focusing only on what to do, this conversation offers a grounded perspective on why reactions happen and how to move toward more regulated, conscious, and connected parenting.
Hosted by Lux Hettiyadura, a Child and Family Development Specialist with over fifteen years of experience supporting children and families. Her work integrates developmental psychology, attachment, neuroscience, trauma-informed care, and nervous system regulation.
Lux holds a BA in Early Childhood Education and is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. She also holds advanced certification in Children’s Behaviour and Mental Health through Stanford Medicine and a Higher Diploma in Montessori Education (AMI). She is also currently pursuing an MSc in Counselling Psychology. Her approach brings together scientific depth and practical application to support meaningful, lasting shifts in parenting and relationships.
