About us
Welcome Readers,
About the Love and Light Book Club: We take a slower approach to reading books. Instead of reading a whole book in a month, we break the book down into several pre-defined selections which allows us to take a deeper dive into the subject and discuss what we have read over several months.
We also read more than one book per month which helps us synthesize different books on similar topics. Primarily, we focus on growth and development books, but we are open to different genres if there is a group interest.
Thank you for joining Love and Light Book Club, we are excited to have you❤️

You are welcome to join the series even if you missed one or more of the sections, but I recommend reading those missed sections on your own because the concepts in the book usually build on each other.

Book Summary:
Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life by Héctor García Puigcerver and Francesc Miralles explores the Japanese concept of ikigai, which loosely translates to “a reason for being” or “a reason to wake up in the morning.” This book delves into the wisdom of Okinawa, Japan, a place known for its high concentration of centenarians, to uncover the secrets to a long, fulfilling, and happy life. This is an amazing book, short enough to be read rapidly, but with such precious substance that I strongly recommend you to have it on your bookshelf.About the Love and Light Book Club: We take a slower approach to reading books. Location not specified yetJoin us for a unique and empowering session as we flip the script on Gary Chapman’s classic framework. We will begin with an Overview and Planning Session on May 11, 2026, at 7pm CT and there will be no reading selection for our kickoff. This series of meetings to cover The 5 Love Languages is designed to help you stop waiting for others to fill your "love tank" and start taking agency over your own emotional well-being.The book is available for purchase at: Amazon.com: The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts
### Book Summary:
While originally written for couples, The 5 Love Languages provides a perfect blueprint for self-advocacy. By applying Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch to our own daily routines, we can combat burnout and build self-esteem. We will discuss how "Acts of Service" can mean prepping your meals for a stress-free week, or how "Quality Time" can be a dedicated morning of digital detox.
