Do We Ever Truly Belong?
Details
There is a distinct cognitive dissonance many of us eventually face. You return to your point of origin. You engage with old social ties. You walk familiar streets. And yet… there is a profound disconnect. The environment remained largely static. But your internal landscape has radically shifted.
You can no longer anchor yourself the way you used to. The conversations lack resonance. The shared realities feel distant. And you are forced to confront the question:
👉 Are we witnessing the decay of our past social capital… or the necessary friction of growth? 👉 What does it mean to authentically belong in an increasingly transient world?
Join us for a Socrates Café—a space dedicated to rigorous, Socratic inquiry where we dismantle established narratives and explore complex realities together.
This is not a lecture. This is not therapy. This is not superficial networking. It is a circle of minds.
🧠 What we do: We gather, isolate a central philosophical question, and rigorously explore it through diverse, lived perspectives.
💡 Possible directions of the inquiry:
- Do we outgrow people, or do we simply exhaust the utility of those past connections?
- Is belonging a geographical anchor, a web of social ties, or a purely psychological state?
- Can we maintain our authenticity without sacrificing our sense of community?
- Is the isolation of feeling "in-between" a modern crisis of sociality, or a prerequisite for true antifragility?
🌿 Who is this for?
- Individuals navigating the liminal spaces "in between worlds"
- Digital nomads, expats, and highly mobile locals
- Thinkers and seekers who crave intellectual friction and substantive discourse
🤝 What to expect:
- A rigorous, respectful, and relentlessly honest space
- No pressure to speak—active, critical listening is highly valued
- Depth, nuance, and the challenging of established ideas over small talk
📍 When & Where: Saturday, May 12th, 2026 | Chiang Mai Hideaway 💰 Contribution: 200 THB (supports the space & facilitation) 👥 Facilitator: Stefan Ručman (Limited spots to preserve an intimate dynamic)
