A Turkish Sailing Adventure

The Plan: Does a week relaxing in the sunshine exploring the Turkish coast on a private yacht sound like fun to you? Come and join us for a Turkish sailing adventure! We will be sailing to a different beautiful bay or small town each night we will make our way along the coast in style. With a plan to sail 3-5 hours a day there will be time to explore each destination and enjoy the local cuisine each evening as we go. We will also be sailing in company with yachts from other sailing groups. No experience is necessary.

When: 18th – 25th May 2024
(Please note you need to arrive in Orhaniye by around 1pm am on the 18th May, so you will likely need to fly on Friday 17th May but evening flights are available).

Where: We will start and end the trip at Palmiye Marina (Orhaniye, Mugla, Turkey) and visit a number of bays/towns including Kocabahce, Bozuk Buku and Bozburun throughout the week. The route is not fixed and may vary depending on conditions, but we will be sure to stay in some beautiful unspoilt places!

The yacht: We have chartered Bavaria 46 with all mod cons, spacious accommodation, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with drinks fridge and a lot of sunbathing space on deck! The yacht is licenced in accordance with Turkish laws and fully equipped with all necessary safety equipment and navigational aids. The yacht has space for 10 people on-board but we will sail with a max of 7 to ensure there is space for everyone. We never expect anyone to be sleeping in the saloon.

Event Organiser/skippers: This trip is organised and skippered by Mike Johns/Sailscape. Mike is a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Offshore with many years’ experience and knowledge of the area.

Accommodation: Accommodation will be in shared double or twin cabins. We often get asked if cabins are available for sole occupancy and, of course that’s fine, however we can only accommodate this if you agree to cover the full charter cost of the other space in the cabin.

Cost: £880 per person

Deposit : £440 due to confirm your place
Balance : £440 due Saturday 23rd March 2024
The cost includes basic charter and insurance costs of the yacht, end cleaning, towels, bed linen, dinghy and cooking gas. Breakfasts, lunches and soft drinks aboard are all included along with some alcoholic beverages at the skippers discretion. Note, this trip is also advertised via the Solent sailing meetup platform.

Extras: Additional costs to consider are flights, transfers and any accommodation ashore (at the start or end of the trip) plus restaurant/bar bills ashore.

Flights: approx. £200-400 return depending and the exact date/time of travel. Dalaman airport is the closest international airport with direct flights from several London airports. Private transfers approx. £70 however, hopefully we can combine and reduce the costs per person.
