Spoken Word Istanbul: Istanbul's Best Open-Mic Night
Detaylar
What is Spoken Word Istanbul?
Spoken Word Istanbul is a vibrant regular open-mic showcase featuring a large community of international performers, travelers, one-timers and regulars in Turkey. Founded and hosted by Merve Pehlivan, the event grew out of an artistic open forum and has become a welcoming space for creativity and expression in the heart of Istanbul.
There’s no cover charge, no reservations, just show up, soak in the atmosphere, and sign up if you want to take the stage for a six-minute spot (talk to the host for group performances). Performers and audience members from all backgrounds and languages are encouraged to join; whether you’re sharing poems, songs, stories, stand-up, anecdotes or acts that defy easy classification, Spoken Word Istanbul is a place to be heard and to listen.
Over the years it’s become more than just an open mic: it’s a community hub where international creatives and locals connect, experiment, and celebrate the power of live performance. You can also simply come and watch: enjoy an eclectic mix of music, performance poetry, storytelling and other unclassifiable acts in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.
