Re: [diningout-134] Lunch or Dinner in New Jersey

Beyti looks good -- I've been meaning to go there for a long time.  Just out of curiosity, are the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail's Weehawken stop(s) anywhere near Beyti Kebab?

I wish I could suggest something excellent near a PATH train stop.  I live in New Jersey, but I don't know a lot of really excellent restaurants within close reach of the PATH.  I live in Newark, but Portuguese and Spanish restaurants don't excite me much.  (Many people love Casa Vasca, which is an excellent Spanish restaurant, but I find Asian, African, and Middle Eastern food infinitely more enticing.)  I haven't explored the Indian restaurants of Jersey City as much as I'd like, although I did have an excellent dosa in that area a few months ago.  I'll have to scratch around and see if I can find that restaurant's card, since I can't remember its name.

The food there looks amazing. Weather permitting, I'd
consider riding my bike there, and perhaps lead a
group from the PATH station in Hoboken, or perhaps
from the ferry in Weehawken.

Hi Teddy & Dave,

I went to Beyti yesterday for carry-out and it was
fabulous. Had the appetizer assortment and daner (gyro
meat without the wrap.) Theirs was top notch - made of
beef & lamb and not salty like most. Their deli case
had some interesting items so bring extra money &
perhaps a sm. insulated bag.

I like the charter bus idea. It would be nice to
have them take us to Blvd East after dinner, not only
to walk-off dinner but to get that breath-taking view
of Manhattan. The bus could drop us off around 60th &
be waiting for us down the road. How much would they
charge per person for: pick-up at Port Auth,
drop-off/pick-up at Beyti, drop-off/pick-up at Blvd
East, and then return to Port Auth?

Hey Dave ,

I have be
en planning an outing to a restaurant in new jersey
for the group.

The restaurant is Turkish, in Union City, not near the
Path. However, I've spoken to a private bus company
that would take a group of 20 from the Port Authority
bus terminal to Boulevard east, about 3 block from the
restaurant and they agree to do so. We would have to
meet at a set time and when done, we would call them
for pickup. Otherwise , if that sound too complicated,
the commute is fairly easy(Yes, close to where I
live), I could just explain how to get there and those
who choose to come can take the bus on their own. The
private bus is $2.00 one way, NJ Transit is $2.55. The
comm uniting time is @ 10-15 minutes once the bus
lives NYC(They wait till the bus gets full). The
restaurant, Beyti. has agreed to provide a menu for
$30.00 PP.

I have eating there and there Kebab is something else,
but also, people should come out just to enjoy the
most beautiful panoramic view of NYC , it is just
breath-taking.

Let me know what you think.

Hi!

We've held precisely one Meetup on the west side of
the Hudson, near the Grove St. station in Jersey City,
and I'd say we're due for another. I have some places
in mind, but I'd like to hear from those of you who
live in the Garden State or, at least, know it better
than I do.

Prospective venues should accommodate 12-20 of us, be
easily walkable from the PATH trains, and offer food
intriguing enough that a few of us New Yorkers will
make a road trip. Send me your thoughts!

Dave
