Some gigs I found on Craigslist

From: Tamara M.
Sent on: Monday, November 4, 2013, 10:12 AM

I don't normally post no pay jobs - but the first one - acting in a short - and the second directing one -  looks fun and might interest some folks. The others are paid. Please note the reply email address are just before each listing. These are not jobs I'm hiring for - I just found them on Craigslist and they looked legit. Please do not reply to this email but find the appropriate reply email on top of each listing. Good luck! :)Tammy

Build Special Platform For Magician (welding experience a must) (Mesa, AZ)

I'm looking for someone who would be interested in building a special platform that would use a linear actuator to accomplish the illusion of levitating an assistant.

The illusion would look something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtOoVsTEXPg

Basically there is a secret linear actuator hidden inside of the steps that raises up behind the magician and has an arm that goes around the magician and supports the assistant. Look at the photos for more details. Feel free to ask me about anything you're uncertain about. I will also need a hoop to be built. 3 feet or more in diameter. You can just use a 10ft piece of 1/2" conduit and bend it into a hoop and weld the ends together.

I have already bought the linear actuator here:
http://www.dcactuators.com/Detail.asp?Product_ID=306.230_6124C
As well as a battery and remote. It works perfectly. Now I just need the platform, steps, the secret levitation arm the assistant will be resting upon, and a hoop to be built. Mostly just a bunch of metal work. Following are all of the materials needed and the estimates for how much everything would cost. I have a budget of $500, so after all of the materials the compensation for you labor would be around $250.

Materials:
Metal price estimates are from http://www.discountsteel.com. Hopefully we can find a local metal shop with comparable prices to avoid shipping costs.
700"x1"x1"x1/16" Aluminum Tubing - $80 (Platform Framing, Platform Legs, Steps)
60"x2.5"x2.5"x1/8" (thinnest you can find) Aluminum Tubing - $35 (Steps Legs)
3'x3' Aluminum Sheet - $25 (Steps Box)
150"x3/4"x3/4"x1/16" Aluminum Angle Bar - $15 (Platform Framing)
24"x48"x1/2" MDF Board - $10 (Platform Board, Secret Levitation Board)
36" x 1" x 1" 11 gauge Steel Tubing - $10 (Secret Levitation Arm)
Bolts & Nuts - $10
6" x 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" 11 gauge Steel Tubing - $6 (Secret Levitation Arm Connector To Actuator Tip)
1/2"x10' conduit pipe - $2 (Hoop)
Total + Tax = Less than $250

Parts:
These are approximate measurements which will require a bit of fine tuning.

Steps:
Legs -
(1) 27"x2.5"x2.5"x1/8" Aluminum Tube. This leg is welded to the top of the box. A 1.5" tall section of the top outside of this leg should be cut out to make way for the secret levitation arm.
(1) 33"x2.5"x2.5"x1/8" Aluminum Tube. This leg goes straight through the box.
Steps -
(3) 7"x1"x1"x1/16" Aluminum Tube
Box -
(1) 6" tall x 12" wide x 7" deep box made from Aluminum Sheet. No bottom so that secret contents can be loaded and unloaded. But has bottom lips so that another aluminum sheet can be slid in to secure the contents.
(1) 12"x7" Aluminum sheet

Platform:
Front/Back Panel -
(6) 10"x1"x1"x1/16" Aluminum Tube
