Announcing a new event for Humanists of Minnesota!

What: Paul Kurtz: The Philosophy of Humanism

When: Saturday, May 26, 10:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: At the May meeting we will view a video by Paul Kurtz, founder of the Council for Secular Humanism (CSH) wherein he elaborates on the philosophy of Humanism.
In his discussion, Kurtz touches on two main principles. First, humanists reject or view with skepticism any supernatural conception of the universe.
Second, is the humanist concern for ethics in the human community. He points out that ethical standards are not to be found outside of life but within it. Humanists look to the enrichment of human life as an end in itself, whether in individual terms or in social terms.
What is important for the humanist is that there are no absolute values or norms independent of what each person individually and socially chooses. We alone are responsible for what we are and what we do. A discussion will follow.

Refreshments served.

A group usually goes to lunch at a nearby restaurant after the meeting (if there is enough interest!)
