Two Great Humanist Parties this Week, and A special upcoming event.

Hello Humanists & Friends,

We have a great week of events planned and a really great concert coming up.

Wednesday we are having a “Cards Against Humanity” Pizza Party on Wednesday evening at 7 (4744 Baylor Drive). We will be celebrating a visit from one of our most involved group members that moved away. Shelayne will be back for the evening and so we will celebrate with pizza, snacks, and intense rounds of the outstandingly-inappropriate, twisted, and devilishly-awesome game “Cards Against Humanity.”

We will be ordering pizzas Wednesday afternoon so please RSVP on Meetup so we know what to get, and how many to pick up. Also, please feel free to bring snacks and beverages (adult or otherwise) to share. Please post on meetup if you are coming and what you like on your pizza.

Then on Saturday, we are holding Coffee & Conversation as a “Dinner and Discussion” with a potluck dinner at Crack in the Wall Framing (3350 Sports Arena Blvd, Ste G). We will have our weekly discussion at 6, and then watch the Sea World fireworks display from the parking lot. Sea World has the best show of the night and unlike the beaches, there is plenty of parking. Please bring snacks to share, and if attending the potluck dinner, please post on meetup so we know what we will have and what we need to get.

Next Wednesday (7/8) we will be discussing “The Politics of Sin in American History” centering around James Morone’s Hellfire Nation. Reading the book isn’t necessary, but it’s helpful. This is at Panera at 7.

And, we have a very special concert on Sunday, August 16th (7 p.m.). Satirist and musician Roy Zimmerman will be performing at the Joyce Beers Center. Tickets will be $15 general, $10 students. More on this event will be posted soon, but mark your calendar. Roy is one of the best satirists out there and the last time that he was here, he blew away the crowd with his lyrical expertise and musicianship.

See you on Wednesday and Saturday for the parties, and then when they become available, please get your tickets for Roy’s concert ASAP because they will be selling out quickly.
