I would like to share a recent positive development with you. 

 

When Shri K T Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for IT & Panchayat Raj participated as the Chief Guest in our Solidarity Ride on 6th July, 2014, I strongly requested him to favorably consider creating a Walking, Jogging and Cycling Tracks Complex in the space between the ORR and the Service Road starting from Gachibowli Junction.  I proposed that this complex shall be atleast 50 kms long and consist of water points, rest rooms and food courts.  This would enable Hyderabad to host International Cycling events, long distance cycling  races as well as endurance rides in addition to Marathons. Further this complex could be used by the citizens regularly every morning and evening thus making it a happening place.

 

The Hon’ble Minister very much appreciated the idea and announced to the electronic and print media present at our event that the Telangana Government would implement this project.  Thereafter he spoke to the concerned high officials and directed them to initiate necessary action to implement this project.  He also touched upon this matter at two major events in the next few days and appreciated the initiative taken by HBC in this respect while reconfirming the Government’s resolve to take this project forward. 

 

We are highly thankful to Shri KTR’s encouragement and support to this project which would give further boost to both cycling as well as running in our city.  With his proactive approach and dynamism, we are sure that this project would materialize at the earliest.  For your information, I attach herewith our letter to Shri KTR in this matter.
