We’re running this workshop in partnership with Government to identify and lower barriers for disruptive businesses as they look to grow. FinTech will be one of the first areas in a new “Challenger Businesses” Programme – sponsored by No10, Cabinet Office and BIS.  It will kick on from a financial innovation seminar hosted at No10 earlier this year.

This is our opportunity to get into the detail of how the rules, regulations, and business environment need to evolve to support the latest financial technology innovations. It is a great opportunity for us to help bring about the changes needed to promote FinTech Challenger Businesses.  Ministers have committed to looking at the outputs from the workshop, so let’s seize the opportunity. 4. #NewYork, #BayArea - Inaugural FinTech Seminars, Crowdfunding

I’m very pleased to announce our inaugural New York and Bay Area FinTech Seminars on November 4^th and 7^th respectively.

It makes sense to extend NewFinance to New York and the Bay Area, as with London, these three great cities represent the top 3 FinTech clusters in the world, and we’d like to build and connect communities in each one; we already get 28% of our video views from NY and CA! From January ’14 we intend to run monthly Seminars in all three cities and further link the clusters, I’ll be announcing more details later in the year.

The theme for both our US Seminars will be ‘Crowdfunding: an update’, following on from our recent UK Seminar on the same topic, and very current in the US now that Title II of the JOBS Act, designed to open up more investment capabilities and stimulate the new startup economy, is now in effect. This will open up the US market for Crowdfunding sites to the benefit of Entrepreneurs looking to raise funding. With significant successes already in the Rewards segment, it seems likely that Crowdfunding sites, albeit providing a more complex process than rewards, will provide an essential funding option to many new businesses and ventures. This Seminar will explore the themes around this new opportunity.
