recommended: Calçotada at Canals & Munné in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia

Hi Barcelona Road Cycling Meetup group members!

Yesterday eight of us rode out to Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and had a bodega visit to learn about how wine and cava are made, and then a Calçotada, all at Canals & Munné, a cava and wine maker since the early 1900s.

Of the several Calçotadas I've eaten, this was the best food! If you're hankering for a Calçotada (or if you've never eaten one), I recommend Canals & Munné!

And if you'd like to learn, in great detail, about the process of graps pressing, fermentation, and making of wine and especially of cava, the bodega visit by Canals & Munné was one of the more complete visits I've done. (Other bodegas have talked more about soils, collection of grapes, etc; Canals & Munné focuses very significantly on the product side, which is also interesting - if you're in to such things as I am :-) ). Dress warmly, a lot of the talk goes on inside the caves and the production space, which at this time of the year is cold! (The restaurant is toasty warm afterwards).

See photos posted by our own BrerRabbit on the Meetup event page of yesterday's ride, at http://www.meetup.com/The-Barcelona-Road-Cycling-Group/photos/19467652/ to get some idea of Canals & Munné's bodega and restaurant.

saludos,
-Jay
