Thanks Gal,

That gives me a lot to look at and improve.  You  advice is really appreciated.

Hi Amanda,

I have Chrome, FF, IE (latest) and Safari installed and test by making the browser window smaller or larger gradually.  I find that testing fixed widths tends to miss some spots.  I also test on my mobile phone in both orientations and there's usually something to change.

To make things easier, I've found the media queries need to be tighter on IE, because it treats the scrollbar as being outside the page.  It's also the most standards compliant browser now and the strictest in the way it interprets page code, so test on IE first.

To make things even easier still, I've stopped testing on anything below IE8, which I do in the IE11 emulation, and in IE8, I only test in a desktop-sized window, because it doesn't run on any device smaller than that.

As for you own site, you should probably position the images so they don't squash the text and interfere with one another.  The styling seems to be quite responsive, but the positioning could be better.  The image before last on the page should also have the class "aligncenter", instead of "alignnone" and no inline margins, like the last image on the page.

Looking at the code, you have line breaks between images, instead of paragraph breaks, and empty paragraphs for spacing, which should be cleaned up.

Best regards,

Gal

Just going to get this out there for x-browser testing.

Depending on the level of testing, quick fixes I'll use http://www.browserstack.com/ - can boot a VM in seconds with the required browser installed and is BROWSER BASED.

For local testing on IE (I have a mac) http://modern.ie/en-us there are some VM's which work with VirtualBox (free) that you can install for free.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Amanda and I am a relatively new member to the Wordpress Meetup Group.  I have been developing web sites and have found that when a site is responsive that the content, text and pictures move depending on what device is being used to view them.  I realise that this is a feature of a  responsive site , but some of them move to the extent that pictures overlap on each other, and text ends up all over the page and ruins the look of the page altogether.  The link to the current site/page I am working on is:

What are the sites that allow cross browser testing?  I think that there was some suggestions about this last year.  Also is there a way of putting some sort of border field around a picture so it does not overlap with another one when the screen size changes?

Regards

Amanda
