I’m interested in getting a list of all general contractors in the Department of Buildings license database (without waiting until Dec 2016 when this data is supposed to be in the Open Data portal). 

My questions for the group related to this are these:

• Does anyone have any experience getting this license data from the DOB? 
• Has anyone scraped the DOB license data from their website? It looks like I’d have to cycle through the alphabet and numbers for business name and hope I got everyone. Since I can’t filter active from expired, I’m getting everyone who’s held a license in recent institutional memory. 
• Assuming this data is best acquired through FOIL, has anyone had experience with that process through DOB?
