Watch Daniel Pardes, VP of Product, and Prerna Singh, Senior Director of Product for updates on Meetup’s product roadmap. They share recent releases and plans for the second half of the year. Don’t miss this update with details on the new organizer app beta test!
Main Takeaways:
- Prerna: I want to recap what our ambitions are for 2021. First, we’ve been really focused on improving the way that people find and attend online events and making it really easy to join any event happening globally.
Second, one of our 2021 priorities was to help our members find events and groups and really stepping up our own game and actually telling folks about them proactively.
And third, was improving the tools that we’re giving our organizers so that they can do what they need to do successfully on our platform. - Here are some product updates from Q3:
- Set your time zone
- Google pay added as a payment option
- Autocomplete in search
- Showing network sponsors on Pro network groups
- Easy way to indicate safety measures at in-person events
- Up next for Q4:
- Organizer mobile app (Beta) – creating a separate app to help organizers
- More control over how your events show up
- Zoom integration
Top Q&A Questions:
- Will the shift in focus to events make it harder or take the focus off of developing groups or communities?
- Dan: I just want to emphatically say no. Groups are an incredibly important part of Meetup – without them there, there wouldn’t be events. Part of the reason why a lot of the time, we make it easier for people to find events is for new members especially, that’s one of the easiest ways for them to find your group or to find a new community.
- How do you determine what bugs to fix or not fix?
- Dan: The quick answer is, it’s some sort of calculus between how often it’s happening and how bad the effects are. To be totally honest, we strive to fix all of them.
Sometimes it takes a few people reporting it for us to understand what’s happening.
It’s not a perfect science, and I’m sure we make mistakes in it, but that’s generally what we do.
