[JOB] Jr to mid-level Ruby on Rails Developer (New York, NY)

From: Evan S.
Sent on: Monday, July 15, 2013, 11:50 AM
Location: New York, NY

Required: 1+ year of Software Engineering experience USING RUBY (Can be projects while obtaining Masters, General Assembly, or work/internships).  Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Now for the job:

This role is one of the rare times Sr. level experience is not required.  Though a great Github, Stack Overflow or BitBucket account would help, it isn't required if you have code samples.  THIS IS NOT A DEMANDING ROLE.  The hours are 9 - 5 and working from home after your first couple of months is going to become your choice...trust must be built first.

If you are looking for a demanding, sleep in the office, work from dawn till dusk start-up then I can send you to one of 10 other companies I work with, but this particular role isn't for you.

Must haves:

- 1+ year of Ruby development experience
- Past contributions to Open Source projects, OR, your own project are a huge plus.
- 1+ year of Rails
- jQuery experience
- Strong understanding of Source Control and tools like Git
- Enough SQL to understand what "Rails is doing under the covers"
- Experience with one or more Open Source Databases (MongoDB, MySQL, etc.)
- TDD, BDD, and familiarity with RSpec and Cucumber is a major Plus

That's all the required skills call for.  If you are more career oriented and want something stable, laid back and want a good work-life balance...this job is for you.  If you want to be part of the next Tumblr, take a gamble with a start-up company and work till your get Carpal tunnel, this isn't it (though I can point you in the right direction).

Send your resumes and/or questions to Evan Slade at Forrest Solutions Group.

Oh, btw...Ruby RULES!
