If you missed Kody's Wii hacking class last year - it's back by popular demand.

Want to learn how Wi-Fi hacking works, and go home with your own esp8266 Wi-Fi deauther? Come to the first LA Cyber Weapons Lab meetup to learn how hackers can shut down any Wi-Fi network in seconds with a low-cost microcontroller.

** IMPORTANT NOTES! ***
This class has limited seating and requires registration via Universe. RSVPing on Meetup is not the same as buying a ticket! Universe registration includes access to this class and all take home materials. Please try to get tickets early.

GET TICKETS HERE $50 per person or $30 for Students with ID:

Cash/Paypal/Venmo accepted at the door.

All class dues help keep NSL open for our community. Thank you for your support.

Students will go home with an ESP8266 microcontroller pre-flashed with Wi-Fi hacking tools and a web-based interface.

=======

Kody Kinzie will explain how the most common Wi-Fi attacks work, focusing on using low-cost microcontrollers and Raspberry Pi computers to crack passwords and attack IoT devices like WI-Fi security cameras.

What you'll learn: How Wi-Fi works and how it's broken. What kinds of tools and devices can hack Wi-Fi. How to use a low-cost tool to disable an IoT camera. How to legally and safely practice Wi-Fi hacking. How Wi-Fi microcontrollers can be programmed.

The first 20 registered attendees will go home with an ESP8266 microcontroller pre-flashed with Wi-Fi hacking tools and a web-based interface.

Prerequisites:

Students should bring a laptop running Windows, MacOS, or Linux. If on Windows, install PuTTY from here: https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html
If running MacOS or Windows, install the following driver before attending class: https://wiki.wemos.cc/downloads
More information can be found here: https://sparks.gogo.co.nz/ch340.html
Bring a Micro USB cable for working with your ESP8266 board!

About our teacher:

Kody Kinzie is a security researcher at Varonis, with a background in Wi-Fi security and low-cost hacking tools. He hosts the Cyber Weapons Lab show on Null Byte's YouTube channel, a soon to be released show for Hak5, and the Varonis Security Tools podcast. Aside from Wi-Fi hacking, Kody also teaches about open-source intelligence, Python programming, and Arduino-based hacking tools.

=============================

Where do I park? / How do I get inside?

Parking: There is free street parking on N Ontario St. It is usually easy to find a spot after business hours or on weekends.

Getting inside: Once you park, head down the walkway, we are the long building in the back (see link for overhead directions)
